This is the United States Metropolitan Public Transport Revamp (US MPTR).
Going through states alphabetically...
to show that we need custom groups inside of groups through making a cluttered map despite all of the organization.
Also partially to redeem the trash maps I made when I started MD.
Cities won't necessarily be done in alphabetical order because there might be a few that I decide to do after all of the major cities. All systems will be realistic to 2025 (excluding NIMBYs), so some systems may have just one line. In general, I will be adding only what a city needs/can manage in 2025 or in the near future. For example, if a city does not have buses, then I will add buses and nothing more. But if a city has massive suburban sprawl and not enough high-capacity transit to go along with it, then I will add a more extensive system. It will not look like topfc's Chicagoland Transit Conglomerate map, but it works in a more realistic way, in my opinion.
I won't deny, cars will still be necessary even with these plans, and some of these revamps are poorly made. However, car use in urban areas would likely decrease nationwide, and the map itself will be very cluttered. Those are the goals of this map, right?
Rules to select cities(for myself):
- The city should be an independent central place. No suburbs/edge cities, e.g. Orange County, CA; Dadeland, FL; Campbell, CA
- The city or metropolitan area must have at least 30,000 people (excluding Alaska).
- The city must be objectively lacking in public transit for its size and density (e.g. Phoenix, Milwaukee, New Haven), hence why I'm not doing cities like San Francisco, Boston, and New York City.
- The city should not have been revamped by me before (even as an on-hold project). I will list them below:
- San Diego, CA
- Washington, DC
- Boston, MA
- Lowell, MA
- Waltham, MA
- Charlotte, NC
- Portsmouth, NH
- Jersey City, NJ (Hudson County Metro)
- Newark, NJ (EUMM Rails)
- San Antonio, TX
- Richmond, VA
- The city should not have been commonly revamped because I do not want to waste time on something other people have done before and likely far better than me. I will list cities excluded due to this rule below:
- Los Angeles, CA
- Chicago, IL
- The above rules may be ignored for cultural significance, but exceptions are unlikely.
Current: Saint Petersburg, FL
Queue: Sarasota, FL; Tallahassee, FL; Tampa, FL; Augusta, GA; Macon, GA; Savannah, GA; Valdosta, GA; Honolulu, HI; Boise, ID; Coeur d'Alene, ID; Idaho Falls, ID; Bloomington, IL; Joliet, IL; Peoria, IL; Rockford, IL; Springfield, IL
NOTES:
---Colorado---
Denver - metro lines are meant to be within the city limits, not for the metro area because the smaller centers are too low-density. The RTD and its bus and railway lines still exist (clearly).
---Delaware---
Wilmington - Yes, I know I've done it before, but it was very poorly made (pre-waypoints level!) so I'm redoing it completely.
Most real-world operational systems in 2025 exist as is in this revamp, so I will not remake them. I will state below if I decided to get rid of something:
