Branched from default map
BRT:
*I played around a bit and some lines with lower than hoped for ridership projections are kept bc i think they're reasonably possible in next 30-40 yrs (before hopefully becoming some sort of rail line sometime in 2100) also kept pretty wide station spacing for some bc my idea is they run as de facto express services alongside local buses that stop more frequently with local stops having passing lanes)
- V Line (Vermont BRT): kept as BRT bc frankly dont see that becoming rail anytime this century. added proposed extension to Pacific Coast Highway J Line stop, added north extension to downtown Glendale via Glendale Metrolink (annoying alignment to get it to connect conveniently to the station but it should theoretically only add a few minutes). Kept it nonstop from Glendale Metrolink to Brand Blvd to keep service fast and leave Glendale buses to fill in rest)
- N Line (NoHo-Pasadena BRT) (*or Glendale BRT aka GilBRT): also kept as BRT bc don't see rail coming this century here. Re-routed eastern terminus to Hill/Pasadena City College via Del Mar Blvd to better serve CalTech and Pasadena City College, rerouted western section between Vineland/Hesby and Olive/Riverside via Riverside Drive instead of the 134
- BigBlueBus Rapid3 (Lincoln Blvd BRT): From Downtown Santa Monica to LAX/Metro Transit Center with possible northern extension to Wilshire/3rd St D Line stop (nandert has this BRT as a C Line extension/separate light rail but I don't see rail on this corridor before 2100 let alone this BRT would be tough enough given the opposition and traffic volumes on Lincoln). Skip-stop express service with local running with it (3 and Rapid3)
-BigBlueBus Rapid7 (Pico BRT): skipped a few stops currently served by route 7 to make it faster/reduce redundancy.
- W Line (Western Ave BRT): BRT nearly mirroring V Line service along Western Ave to San Pedro. Not sure about C Line connection, just put it at Crenshaw for now with that routing (comment other ideas)
- West Hollywood Express: random idea, BRT run by City of West Hollywood connecting Expo/Sepulveda E/Q Line station with Century City (D Line), Beverly Hills, and West Hollywood at San Vicente/Santa Monica K Line station. Potential temporary extension along the rest of the K Line route to Hollywood/Highland until construction is finished then just BRT shuttle from Sepulveda to the K Line via Century City and Santa Monica Blvd
- R Line (Rosemead-Long Beach BRT): BRT between Arcadia (A Line)/Santa Anita and A line in Long Beach (could cut it at PCH circle too and have separate BRT along PCH, idk) chose Arcadia instead of Sierra Madre bc of Santa Anita shops and race course (would run on both sides of Huntington just put it in middle for ease sake)
Key Local Buses: added important feeder/trunk route lines with peak frequencies of 10min or less, mostly running on some sort of bus lane (shared with BRT/other lines, its own bus lanes, or peak hour only. Few adjustments:
Metro 2: end at Doheny Rd, west of that imagining 20-30min peak frequency so it wont be shown here.
Metro 4:
Metro 240:
Culver City 3:
BBB 14: skipped Woodbine, Louise, and Route 90. Termini at Wilshire/Bundy D Line and Playa Vista instead of Culver City Transit Center bc Slauson BRT
- M Line: Manchester/Firestone BRT between Playa Del Rey and Norwalk/Santa Fe Springs
-S Line: Jefferson/Slauson BRT connecting SaMo BRT in Playa Vista to Slauson A/L Station. Another east-west corridor connecting many lines. Could keep repeating this across south/central LA
Tram/Streetcar:
- OC Streetcar: added proposed northern extension to Disneyland (decided to end it at Disney instead of the Stadium bc of the highway interchanges on the way to the stadium). Have it running along middle of Harbor Blvd to Disney Way, not sure about alignment north of convention center and where exactly to put final stop. Idea for Disney Way stop is a 3 track terminus with bus bays (shuttles across the area including one to Anaheim Stadium Metrolink and transit center and Anaheim South St Metrolink)
LRT:
- reclassified G Line as light rail (did not extend it along N Line because I have a feeling it will not be converted to light rail)
- F Line (ESFV-LRT): I don't see it going down Ventura to Studio City bc like Lincoln, heavy traffic and likely strong opposition. Terminus at Van Nuys/San Fernando Rd in Pacoima with new Metrolink stop as is planned.
- K Line: northern extension to Hollywood/Highland via San Vicente/Santa Monica (+ proposed Hollywood Bowl Station), southern extension to Torrance Transit Center (RIP right of way), and my addition of two more stations south at Plaza del Amo (Torrance High School/Wilson Park) and Lomita/Western
- C Line: added proposed eastern extension to Norwalk Metrolink underground (above ground/street running seemed like it would add a lot of time to an already fast line relatively, probably fever dream but who knows)
- E Line: added proposed eastern extension to Whittier
- L Line (Southeast Gateway): added proposed northern extension to downtown via 7th/Alameda (maybe center running on alameda, this seemed like a good stop) ending at Little Tokyo (I think it does not need to go all the way to Union, idk), added Cypress College, Cerritos Ave, Chapman, and Harbor Transit Center stations
HRT:
- B Line: added proposed extension to the new Burbank Airport terminal with walking connection to hopefully upgraded AV Line stop. Extended south from Wilshire/Vermont to imaginary SoFi/Forum stop on S (Sepulveda) Line (fever dream idea but if B Line were directed south and uncoupled from D Line then I'd imagine it would look somewhat like this acting as sort of express for Vermont BRT)
- X Line: essentially Nandert's X Line connecting Venice Beach to Downtown and West Covina
- D Line: renamed Westwood/UCLA to Wilshire/Westwood for future Sepulveda Line UCLA stop. Revived previously studied western extension into Santa Monica ending at Wilshire/4th
- Q Line (Sepulveda): LPA via Van Nuys, fully underground. Phase 2 is alternative 3 (via Sepulveda to LAX) plus imaginary phase 4 to SoFi/Forum and Vermont.
*Stadium/Forum Transit Center: added a stop on the Q (Sepulveda) Line after LAX/Metro Transit Center (possible, not yet studied as far as I know).
With a large enough station design to handle stadium crowds at LAX/Metro Transit Center and the proposed high frequency, automated trains with platform screen doors for the Q (Sepulveda) Line, this extension might work and would certainly be heavily used.
New Metrolink Stops: (electrified and double tracked in more places)
SB Line: added proposed LA General Medical Center stop
PV Line: added future Placentia Station
VC Line: (not planned or proposed to my knowledge, just ideas in scenario that Metrolink becomes like a Transilien/London regional railways/Go Toronto, Metra, obviously CalTrain and the RER in most wild case), re-located Simi Valley stop to central Simi Valley, re-located East Ventura terminus, re-located Northridge to better serve CSUN and buses along Reseda, added River Park/North Oxnard and Camarillo Heights stops
OC Line: added proposed Pico/Rivera stop, renamed Irvine to Irvine-Great Park and Tustin to South Tustin, added UC Irvine-El Camino Real stop (I imagine a bus shuttle to UC Irvine), added Anaheim-South St stop, added Lake Forest stop at El Toro Rd and Mission Viejo stop at La Paz Rd, renamed Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo to Laguna Niguel, renamed Anaheim (ARTIC) to Anaheim-Stadium (potential bus shuttle to both Anaheim stops from Disneyland Transit Center)
*new terminus at San Juan Capistrano due to San Clemente coastal track conditions and existing Surfliner service (in this scenario, Metrolink operates like a proper regional commuter rail network akin to Paris's Transilien lines. Plus, past San Juan Capistrano, the land use and density around the stations gets a lot worse hence my argument for leaving it to a supposed improved Surfliner if the San Clemente tracks are ever rerouted or bridged at some point in this century before the ocean wins that battle)
AV Line: re-located Santa Clarita stop (better serves Valencia town center, Six Flags, and the new Mission Village development ideally with a BRT or at least a frequent bus line along Magic Mountain Pkwy), added planned Pacoima stop to connect with F Line (ESFV LRT).
