** LINK LIGHT RAIL **
Link 1 Line:
For the most part, this follows the ST3 plan for the 1 Line. It tunnels into Ballard, since the current estimated cost of that tunnel is very close to the estimated cost of the bridge. From there it goes north to Crown Hill, then swings through Aurora, Northgate, and Lake City. (Most of this extension would be a tunnel, possibly becoming elevated east of Northgate.) Note that the Rainier Valley track has all been grade-separated.
Link 2 Line:
The exact line planned in ST3, plus extensions to Totem Lake and Woodinville via Eastrail. The extension would be elevated if people don't complain too much.
Link 3 Line:
Here's where things get interesting. The bottom half is inspired by ST3 candidate project C-13, which would extend the West Seattle line to Burien. I've taken some liberties there because I think their routing is suboptimal. C-13 was an elevated line, hence the sharp turns, but I expect the actual project would be tunneled. From Burien it continues to Tukwila Int'l Boulevard, providing easy airport access.
Looking north, the 3 Line does exactly what ST3's 3 Line does, until it gets to Roosevelt. At that point it wyes off the existing tracks and follows SR 522: Thornton Creek, Lake City, Lake Forest Park, Kenmore, two Bothell stations (one downtown, one at UWB), and finally terminates in Woodinvile.
Link 4 Line:
Did someone say "eastside spine"? No? Well, too bad. From Lynnwood in the north, the 4 Line first runs along I-405 until the Canyon Park area. After stopping there, it follows the Bothell-Everett Highway to serve downtown Bothell and their UW campus. It has two stations there, one downtown and one by the University. From there it links up with the 2 Line, paralleling it until North Kirkland. Lake. It continues along the Cross-Kirkland Corridor, with three stops in the Kirkland area, before using the ST2 Bellevue route to traverse the city. Going along the 2 Line tracks in South Bellevue, which assumes a lot of environmental mitigation in the Mercer Slough area, its next stop is in Factoria after a jog over to I-405.
Going further south, the 4 Line travels down I-405 instead of Coal Creek Rd; in a vacuum, the latter may be preferable for ridership, but I envision environmental issues building a line through a protected forest. Having made it through no-man's-land it's on to Renton, where we have three stops -- one serving the Renton Landing area, one in the heart of downtown, and one adjacent to a bunch of parking lots that'll become great TOD. Finally, we pass through the Southcenter, TIBS, Seatac, and terminate at Angle Lake.
Link 5 Line:
My second-favorite line on this map, the 5 Line plays a similar role to today's RapidRide E -- and then some. Running along SR 99 from Alderwood to the ST3 South Lake Union station, it serves Seattle's fastest-growing corridor. After going through Denny and the jewel of this map, Westlake, it then jogs over to First Hill (finally!), Yesler, and Jackson, bringing light rail to historically underserved communities. (Note that we've figured out how to build housing without displacement by 2124.) On the south side, the 5 Line runs along the Rainier Valley tracks -- which have been grade-separated -- until Rainier Beach, at which point it splits off and runs down Renton Ave. One certainly hopes that will all be upzoned in the next century. It then makes two stops in Skyway before terminating in Renton.
Link 6 Line:
I don't know man, it's the Duwamish Bypass. Then it goes north to Everett along the tracks you'd expect it to. Oh, wait! I added some stops in Everett. And also sent it north to Marysville because why not.
Link 7 Line:
This began as a simple Ballard-UW-Hospital line like everyone and their mother has. I wrestled with how to extend it to the east for a long time, and finally came up with something I like. From Seattle Children's it runs south through Laurelhurst (not stopping there, since even in a hundred years they'll be NIMBYs), before doing a tunnel-bridge thing to join up with the 520 bridge. This isn't a new idea: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bridge-tunnel
Then we do a fairly standard Issaquah Link thing. The only interesting part is, again, using the 2 Line tracks instead of I-405 near the Mercer Slough.
Link 8 Line:
This one is still a work in progress, but the spirit of it is to connect Tacoma with Spanaway and other suburbs.
