Subway: Red - North extension to Lexington, incorporation of Mattapan ROW into the line. Blue -Massive expansion with branches on both sides. One branch takes over the former Green D. Orange - North expansion taking over the commuter rail ROW. South a completely new underground alignment to Forest Hills in order to liberate a 4 track rail corridor for HSR+commuter rail to Providence. Even more south one branch takes over the Needham line, the other serves Dedham and further. Green - Restoration of the A branch. Extensions both north and south. Given that the northern part is fully grade separated it can support a higher level of service, so we combine 4 southern branches with 2 northern. Commuter rail: Various extensions, improvements, electrification, and double tracking where needed. Relocating some stations for better coverage. Central tunnel connecting South and North stations in Boston with 4 tracks. Presented separately in the plan as exact service pattern would have to be determined. Some of the tracks also carry long distance trains. Freight not shown, assumed to be present, as well as exclusive freight infrastructure. HSR: Full build of Northeast Corridor between Boston and Providence (and onward) as 2+2, where 2 tracks are fully reserved for HSR and the other 2 for commuter rail.
