Services are not available over the winter due to icy conditions. Due to the locks between Lake Michigan and the Chicago River, which add 15-20 minutes of transit time, ferries do not cross from the lake into the river. Lakeside ferries dock at Navy Pier. Riverside ferries use the dock in the river to access Navy Pier. All lakeside ferries will be met by riverside ferries for fast transfers. Fast transfers are also available between all ferries and the aerial gondola to Michigan Ave and the Museum Campus/ Soldier Field.
