Many low performing existing stations have been removed to provide faster journeys.
The Red Line is the busiest line in the network. The Yellow Line is the 2nd busiest. The Orange Line is the 3rd busiest.
The Mountain View section of the Orange Line has been discontinued due to very low ridership and replaced by rapid bus service. Tracks have been turned into protected bike lanes.
The Green Line now has a direct connection w San Jose Int'l Airport Terminals A & B
The Orange Line has become a circle line offering faster service around the city without going downtown and through the northern tech district. This line connect w every light rail line at two opposite ends, ACE, BART, and Caltrain.
The Yellow Line connects East San Jose, Regional Med Ctr, San Jose State, downtown, City College, Valley Med Ctr, Stevens Creek, Santana Row, De Anza College, and Caltrain Mountain View station providing a direct line from Caltrain to the Stevens Creek corridor
The Red Line connects East San Jose, Reg'l Med Ctr, San Jose State, downtown, Santa Clara Uni, El Camino Real, San Antonio Ctr, Stanford, and Palo Alto Transit Ctr

The Monterey Bay commuter rail lines connect in Gilroy to Caltrain and CA High Speed Rail. There are also 2 lines connecting the major cities of Monterey and Santa Cruz counties.
In Santa Cruz, the commuter rail line is underground from Market St to UCSB. This alleviates overcrowding at UCSB and make cross county travel faster.
