Cascadia Regional (Potential Future)

Map is Public
created 27 weeks ago
updated 19 weeks ago
This map seeks to create a comprehensive public rail system for a hypothetical future Cascadian nation arisen from a collapsed USA. Heavy rail lines (depicted in orange and grey) run on either existing railways that could be upgraded in future or on former railways that could be rebuilt, with the exception of the HSR, which is mostly given its own brand new railway. There are also a few places where slower speed passenger rail accompanies the HSR in the same right-of-way (on separate tracks), and vice versa. Suburban Rail (depicted in orange) is meant to be ̶a̶ ̶f̶l̶a̶g̶r̶a̶n̶t̶ ̶p̶l̶a̶g̶i̶a̶r̶i̶s̶a̶t̶i̶o̶n̶ ̶ functionally similar to the suburban and intercity rail system found in Sydney, Australia, including electrification. Light Rail in Seattle & Portland is based on existing Link and MAX systems, as well as extensions thereof, some of which are currently planned, others of which I have invented. Light Rail and Trams elsewhere are mostly based on former streetcar or interurban lines. (A notable exception is the southern end of SPOT 1 in Spokane, which is in a tunnel that has never previously existed.) Note: -Interlining is not displayed by colour code. Several different lines of the same type may use the same tracks.- Tram/Streetcar lines are shown in magenta. Light Rail lines are shown in green. Suburban Rail lines are shown in orange. Long Distance Rail lines are shown in grey. High Speed Rail is shown in black. Ferry lines are shown as red plusses. Gondolas are shown as red diamonds, and are not categorised by frequency of service.
