MAJOR CHANGES: - The Yellow Line would be truncated to Tynemouth, and services to St. James would be handed over to a new Blue Line. - A New RER-type commuter rail system (Tyne & Wear Overground) would be introduced in tandem with the electrification of the Durham Coast, Tyne Valley, and Northumberland Lines (and double-tracking of the latter). - The Green Line would be re-routed via Washington to free up the Durham Coast Line for electrification and avoid conflict with the new Overground. - Seaburn & St Peter's would permanently close as part of the Overground's construction. A new light rail service between Sunderland & South Shields (Sunderland Supertram) would replace said two stations.
