This is a map of trams in Antalya, consisting of AntRay, the modern tram network, and the Nostalgic Tram, consisting of a single short line.
---
Nostalgic Tram is the first tram line opening in Antalya, in 1999, consisting of 2 MAN/Düewag T4 model trams gifted by the sister city of Nuremberg, Germany. The line connects popular destinations such as Republic Square (Cumhuriyet Meydanı), Historical Old Town (Kaleiçi), Archeological Museum, Varyant, and Işıklar Avenue. It is also the very first rail transport in the whole city, which still does not have any rail infrastructure besides trams.
It is popular amongst tourists, old folks living around there, and people transferring from T3 to go to city center in recent days, though it has its limitations brought by being a nostalgic tram line, such as the very low frequency of 30 minutes because of the limited rolling stock, and the fact that the line is entirely single track except for a few stations. also the high-floor trams are inaccessable to handicapped people.
---
AntRay is a seperate, modern LRT network, creating the backbone of public transit in Antalya, connecting Airport, Coach Terminal, City Center, University, many neighborhoods, most hospitals, and various malls to eachother. Together with the nostalgic tram, Antalya has the only tram network and the longest urban rail network in the Mediterranean Region of Türkiye.
Its first line, Fatih - Meydan (nowadays known as T1), has actually kind of an interesting story. It was first planned in mid 2000's due to increasing population, traffic, and demand. It was built as a tram to save on costs and construction time, despite the already narrow avenues leading to the city center, low operating speed, and the future demand that would lead (and has led) to the line overcrowding. After being rushed to open before the local elections (and shamelessly being advertised as the "worlds fastest built urban rail line") it was finally opened in 25 December 2009 by the new mayor, 6 months after the elections due to repair efforts on the very patchily built, shoddy tramway. In 2016, it was extended from Meydan to Airport and EXPO, splitting the line into 2, forming whats known nowadays as T1A and T1B.
T1C and T1D is introduced in 2024, having several trams that'd normally be on T1B returning earlier from Aksu or Kışla instead of Expo. Those aren't actual lines, but a slight difference in the service on the existing line, only effective during early morning and night time.
Its second line T3, has begun construction in 2017, and its section between Varsak and Atatürk was opened in 2019. The whole Varsak - Müze line beyond Atatürk station opened in October 2021.
AntRay Rolling stock consists of:
CAF Urbos 2 (16 trams) (2008/2009) operating mostly in T3, few work in T1
Hyundai Rotem trams (18 trams) (2016) operating entirely in T1
Bozankaya Tramvay (2 trams) (2022) operating entirely in T3
More Bozankaya trams for the T3 line were supposed to be bought, and start operation after test runs, but their fate is uncertain, as there hasn't been a single news about the new trams for 1 and a half years.
