The CityTrams lines are largely to create some St Louis City tram lines akin to the streetcar lines that used to run in the early 20th century and connect many walkable areas and attractions in Saint Louis City. The MetroTrams lines are scattered trams, which connect to other MetroLink/MetroSuburb rail services, to enhance walkable areas outside the city core. The Metrolink Green Line is largely an extended version of the planned line of the same name using a more easterly shifted adaptation of the associated county connector program. The Metrolink Yellow line is largely based off the 2000 Southside/2008 Southside Choteau proposals using existing ROW combined with an adaptation of the 2005 Madison Study B alignment. The Metrolink Orange line is largely based off the 2000 Daniel Boone alignment using majority existing ROW combined with largely the 2005 Madison Study A alignment. The Metrolink Blue Line has been extended east above grade thru Fairview Heights to then drop and merge with an old ROW to come into O'Fallon. The Metrolink Red Line has the Mid-America extension attached and extended west under Lambert airport to existing ROW to terminate just on the far side of the Missouri River. The MetroLink Purple line is an orbital cross-county connector which follows a complex mix of suburban and light rail lines plus existing and defunct ROWs to enhance connections outside downtown. All of these lines, except the Green Line which would use low-floor vehicles, could use existing Metrolink high-floor light rail vehicles. The MetroSuburb Maroon Line follows existing ROW from Wentzville east/south-east to downtown. The MetroSuburb Lime follows existing ROW from Pacific east to downtown making some significant stops from Kirkwood inwards. The MetroSuburb Mint lime follows almost entirely existing ROW from Festus north to downtown. Its alignment partially follows the MetroSouth 2005 proposed blue line extension for its middle trunk between I-44 and I-270. The MetroSuburb lines, with the exception of the brown line, would use EMUs to provide a similar service to that of Melbourne Suburban rail services.
