DESCRIPTION IS ONLY IN ENGLISH SUGGESTIONS If there is a line you would like me to add, make sure it follows the criteria listed in the NOTES section. If you have any other ideas (like specific markings for closed stops on open lines), please do leave them in the comments. I'm not very active, but i do check here once in a while. KEY Disused means that the line is unused but the tracks are (mostly) there. Razed lines are ones that have been (mostly) lifted. Most Operational lines are standard gauge, with few exceptions being Meter gauge. Those are not noted, but they are mostly in the Peloponnese, where the Metric network was the largest. Other gauges or track types are denoted in the name of the line group or the line itself. Narrow Gauge is noted on the line name. Rack Railways are noted on the line name. Temporary Closures are noted on the line name. IMPORNANT This map is shown as a branch of another. This is indeed true, as this was initially a side project of a Bulgaria and Greece operational network map (that only showed Greece before I stopped), however this quickly took on a much larger scale, and even started to beat the original in terms of quality, and I felt like it was better to delete it, a decision I have come to regret (I think I should have marked it as out of date or something similar). This is also a good place to mention that this map shouldn't be used as a journey planner, as no service patterns are reflected and the operational lines show stations that have been long closed, as long as they were on the route, as well as no rail replacement buses or other connections, apart from the two Metros and the Athens Tram. This is an independent, solo passion project. I am not affiliated with any organisation or any team. I do not ask of you to check my other maps, unless you want to. NOTES Old alignments of existing lines are not shown, unless there have been station openings, closures or relocations! Most short Military railways that didn't really last are NOT shown. There are exceptions, which come down to personal interest and the amount of route sources i can find. Mines are NOT shown (Eretria was an actual line that linked with the mines on one end). Only the current tram networks are shown cause the old ones were too complex to map out, and they would have been impractical. I might make a different map of just them, not sure. NONE of the international connections have any services running. Whilst both lines bound for Idomeni have no trains, they are shown as operational for the sake of not having a disused line marked all the way across the country. Loutraki still hasn't reopened, it is supposed to do so later this year. The progress on the Aigio - Patra part of the new line isn't marked as no services run past Aigio, and construction is still ongoing. CHANGE LOG EARLIER DATES NOT SHOWN Uses day/month/year 11/10/25 Relocated Kardikafti 1 city block over to its actual location. Added Kato Panagia station in it's original location, between Kyllini and Ikaros stations (escaped my research). 19/10/25 Renamed Trachis station to the modern Greek name of Trachina. 17/11/25 Finally added Athens (Peloponnese) station (Please don't come after me). Volos -- Sesklo - Latomeio line moved to operational as now SOME trains run on it. Minor waypoint changes near Skotina. 26/11/25 Renamed Kiato station to Kiato - Sikyona to reflect the suffix having been used at times. 3/12/25 Nea Zichni station added to the Amphipoli bound lines as well. 5/12/25 Vasiliki and Parnasos stations relocated to their actual sites and added Kato Kalyvia station after I confused it for Parnasos. 11/1/26 Added Nea Agrilia, Kastro, Kotsoni, Dervenakia, Kougaiika, Archaies Kleones and Koutalas stations after missing them (reviewed the Kalo Nero - Zevgolatio - Agioi Theodoroi section), and thus removed the '-Dervenakia' suffix from Nemea. Also in preparation of the reopening of the Loutraki line, added the new name of Michanicou (Casino) and the New Loutraki station (the old one is still shown), as well as adding the link between the old Kalamata line and the new Corinth station (unrelated to the reopening). 17/3/26 Added the second (and final) Makrygialos station in Pieria, on the mainline. 15/5/26 Extended the Argos end of the Argos - Nafplio Poli route to Agioi Anargyroi as that is the most accurate route to the real (former) service. Fixed spelling error at Akrolimni. 17/5/26 Added the Fanari (New) - Issari Line to reflect the old route and the former Fanari Station. Attempting to standardize "Παλαιός / Former" and "Νέος / New" for all stations with this distinction. Also marked the new Gorgopotamos, Agioi Anargyroi, Kinetta, Kalamata, Triklia, Orfana, Axioupoli and Doirani stations in this way, instead of just the former ones, and both Thafmako, Agioi Theodoroi, Lykoporia and Xylokastro stations too. Kiato is exempt as the former station has the - Sikyona suffix, while the new one doesn't. The opposite is true for Examilia - Corinth (New) and both of the former Corinth and Examilia stations, as the new one shares both names simultaneously (even though it's advertised as just Corinth). Similarly, Aiginio station is also exempt as the former station has the -Kolindros suffix. Nea Zichni station may seem to be a replacement of the Amfipoli Lines station, but in fact it was a triangular station, and thus no recency markings are used, as they operated simultaneously as one (despite the Amphipoli station being built later and also being closed earlier). Removed the Poli distinction from Acharnes as it wasn't ever truly used. Put the "High Level" and "Low Level" parts of the name at Acharnes Railway Centre in parenthesis. Removed the "(Κλειστός / Closed)" part of Athens Peloponnese's station name. Changed alternate names from to separated by a - instead of a /. Changed the crime of using "1st" and "2nd" to describe the stations at Makrygialos to "Former" and "New" respectively (despite both being disused, as this reflects the chronological order). I might reinstate numbering if we get a 3rd station anywhere with two closed ones that had the exact same name as the new one. Despite the new station at Polykastro still being in construction, it is labeled "New" and the operational one is named "Former", as it's due for replacement. Added the -Alistrati Caves (-Σπήλαιο Αλιστράτης) suffix to Kryopigi station as it has been used in the past. Fixed spelling error at Ptelea. 21/6/26 Added Mperkaiika station (escaped research twice), added the older station at Agios Panteleimonas, and thus added the appropriate signage to differentiate it with the new operational one. Added Neos Panteleimonas station as it's finishing construction. Switched the Volos lines to disused as the line is being worked on with no services running, just replacement buses, and added a "(Προσορινά Εκτός Λειτουργίας / Temporarily Closed)" sign (the name wouldn't fit on the "Volos -- Sesklo - Latomeio" line so i used "(Temp. Closed)", the full phrase in Greek fit. Also moved the "Velestino - Chalkidonio" museum line into disused as Velestino station, which houses the museum's depot, is on the Volos - Larisa route and thus closed. Also, on said line, Velestino Poli station now has the suffix - Stasi Velestino, as that is the advertised name on the platform. 4/8/26 Waypoints fixed near Makrygialos 28/8/26 After further research, Plateia Mpotsari station has been renamed to the official station name Messologhi Poli, instead of using the destination listed in the construction permit, as the latter had no station name listed. This also has led to the change of the line name. 15/9/26 Fixed the description. Added the SUGGESTIONS, KEY, IMPORTANT and NOTES sections. 1/10/26 Added missing English name to Kefalovryso.
