Transit of Pierce County / Tacoma Washington! (DESTINATION 2045 V2)

On June 18th 2025, the second draft for Pierce Transit's Destination 2045 Long Range Plan released, and on June 23rd 2025, I now bring to you an updated map. Because the difference between them is so drastic, I've branched the first draft (which means you can find it below) to make the second draft. Here are the differences between V1 and V2: - Route 1 has vanished completely. Instead of being Stream 1, it's Stream Community Line (while 2 & 3 are still Stream 2 & 3). Stream Community Line goes between Tacoma Dome Station and Commerce Street via Pacific Avenue now instead of Market Street. - Stream route 2 is extended from Commerce Street to Tacoma Dome Station via Pacific Avenue. We do not actually know where the stops will be located as this is inconsistent with previous Stream BRT planning documents. - Route 15 is now a local route, ends at Commerce Street, and serves Old Town. - Route 17 has been removed. This was originally the local variant of Route 15 which used to be express, and this route would have ended in Point Ruston. - Route 25 has been cut back from Tacoma Dome Station to Commerce Street. This route replaces the existing Route 1 on 6th Avenue. - Route 42 has been cut back to 72nd Street TC, it was supposed to be extended to Parkland TC but that has been canceled. - Route 51 has had its routing in Lakewood and its loop at the northern end refined. - Route 54 has been cut back to 72nd Street TC, it was supposed to be extended to Parkland TC but that has been canceled. - Route 58 has been removed. - Route 59 has been removed. - Route 66 has been removed. - Route 68 has been removed. - Route 103 has been removed. - Route 240 has been removed. - Route 403 has been removed. - Route 404 has been removed. - Route 491 has had its routing to Puyallup Station adjusted. - Route 496 has been removed. - Route 498 has been removed. - Route 500 has had its routing in Fife adjusted to more directly serve Fife Station to make up for the removal of routes 66 and 68. - Route 501 has had its routing to South Federal Way Station adjusted, and the peak-only variant serving Valley/70th has been brought back from the present day to make up for the removal of routes 66 and 68. - No changes were made to Stream route 3, and routes 4, 5, 10, 11, 28, 40, 41, 45, 48, 53, 57, 100, 202, 206, 212, 214, 400, 402, 409, and 497. This is 100% a step backwards for Pierce Transit. Outreach of the first draft (published in second draft document) shows people did not think the first draft was good enough, so naturally the second draft is worse. In the first draft, there are 14 new routes, or 17 if you include two existing routes being combined, a duplicative express route, and one existing route being split into two. Meanwhile in the second draft, there are 4 new routes, or 6 if you include two existing routes being combined and one existing route being split into two. The current system is at its bare bones, no muscle, no flesh, just a skeleton, and this is due to funding cuts one after another. The first D2045 draft was a good step in the right direction (but not good enough), adding some muscle to the system, but no flesh, so the public gave valuable feedback about what is needed. Meanwhile the second draft (this version) is the current system, but with a couple spots of plaque on it. It's basically the skeleton of the future. It's like if a better version of the system in the future went through a series of funding cuts one after another. Pierce Transit should be designing an ambitious vision, not something mediocre, and not something that preserves the status quo.
