San Jose VTA if it was Based

San Jose is VAST and the current 3 line VTA service is nowhere near comprehensive enough to cover most of San Jose. This is my attempt to imagine a fantasy "final build out" of VTA Light Rail and Gold BRT service. A handful of lines here could be better serviced as a BRT instead of LR such as the Lawrence Expy line, Blossom Hill Line, Tully/Curtner Line, and the Story/Hamilton lines. The line that absolutely needs to be LRT or better is the Expressway circular route. The Red Expressway circular route would serve as an essential intermediary service allowing for easy transfers between nearly every line as well as improving equity. The current VTA is very heavily skewed toward business-class employees spending most of its time in the more affluent westside of San Jose and servicing their work centers at downtown and north San Jose. The Circular follows capitol expressway which is a high-traffic arterial on San Jose's working-class East side and as I see it its these populations that benefit disproportionately from readily accessible and high capacity public transit. Providing transit to this area while also providing a critical backbone to the whole system. I also attempted to reach as many college campuses as possible and I think I did a good job. On this map of course San Jose State and Santa Clara University are serviced but so are many community colleges such as Evergreen Valley College, West Valley College, and De Anza College. There's also plenty of grade-schools serviced on this map too! Edited 5:26 More closely aligned lines to existing ROW
