Greater Newcastle Train Network 2056

Based on my larger scale Newcastle network, this map scales it back to what it could look like by 2056, given complete bipartisan support for the entire length of the project, and liberal amounts of expenditure. I also designed some light rail lines for fun, based on both the future proposal's high priority corridors, and the legacy lines that ran until 1950. R-Lines are for longer distance regional journeys, T-Lines are for suburban trains, and L-Lines are local light rail services. My plan begins by installing 3 separate lines, the T1, T2 and T3, bringing back rail access to those in Toronto, giving the line to Telarah more frequent service, and introducing a city loop hitting key areas of the city, such as Callaghan and Wallsend. This also sees new stations to be built on CCN line, such as Glendale, Garden Suburb, and a relocated Kotara Station, closer to the retail district. Next, T4 opens, returning rail service to Belmont and introducing rail to Charlestown, home of Charlestown Square, the busiest shopping district in the Hunter. Going via Whitebridge, Dudley and Redhead, it follows a similar trajectory to the original Belmont line. T5 will be opened, specifically avoiding the freight corridor to avoid passenger and freight conflict, diverting away towards Barnsley, Minmi and Fletcher. This creates a circumferential line that avoids congestion in the city, and forms part of the line to be used by R3. The R3 and T6 will open at the same time, connecting Cessnock back into both Newcastle and Maitland by rail, repurposing the Richmond Vale rail corridors for passenger service. The T7 will then open to connect the airport to the rest of the city, as well as strengthen the service on the Callaghan to Glendale corridor. It will also connect with coach services at Glendale Station.
