A map of all the KRL, MRT, LRT, local, railbus, shuttle, and airport train lines with accurate alignment connecting the Indonesian islands of Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi. Like this map? Check out my other map with all the intercity train lines in Java & Sumatra! https://metrodreamin.com/edit/OHpmRnRqRkJWSVZHRlVzNmNjUjZXampSa24zMnw2 Each of the train lines on this map are different regarding service type, rolling stock, operator, type of energy used, etc, so I've grouped them based on their service types and operator. Here is a quick summary of each service type: > ARS (Airport Railink Service) Executive-class express trains heading from the airport to the downtown area of cities. Operators vary. > Commuter Local economy-class locomotive trains serving remote areas with little to no services. Note that some commuter trains do not use locomotives but use a distinct rolling stock of diesel trains (see side notes for more). Operated by PT KAI Commuter. > KRL (Kereta Rel Listrik, English: Electric Rail Trains) Local commuter trains serving the urban areas of Greater Jakarta and the Yogyakarta-Solo region. One of the first rail lines to use electrified trains instead of diesel trains in Indonesia. KRL trains in Jakarta use secondhand imported trains from Japan formerly used on JR East and Tokyo Metro lines, while KRL trains in Yogyakarta use homegrown trains made by PT INKA. Operated by KAI Commuter. > Local Similar to commuter trains but are operated by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) instead of their subsidiary. Just like commuter trains, some local trains do not use locomotives but use a distinct rolling stock of diesel trains (see side notes for more). > LRT (Lintas Raya Terpadu/Light Rail Transit) Elevated electrified commuter trains that are light in construction and can carry fewer passengers than KRL or MRT trains. LRT trains are less frequent when compared to the KRL or MRT, but are more frequent than local trains. More LRT lines are planned to be built in other major cities in Indonesia. > MRT (Moda Raya Terpadu/Mass Rapid Transit) Electrified metro trains connecting busy urban and commercial centers, and is the only train in Indonesia to have deep-level underground rails and stations. Currently only one MRT line is active and operated by PT Mass Rapid Transit Jakarta, but more MRT lines in other cities in Indonesia are planned to be constructed. > Railbus A railbus is a small lightweight train, typically only 1-3 carriages long, that shares many of its aspects with a bus and runs along branch lines as a shuttle line. Each railbus line in Indonesia uses its own unique rolling stock unlike other service types. Operators vary. > SHIA (Soekarno–Hatta International Airport) Only the Skytrain, an APM that connects Soekarno–Hatta Airport's passenger terminals and the main railway station, is classified under this group. The Skytrain is operated by PT Angkasa Pura II, the owner of Soekarno–Hatta Airport. > Whoosh (Waktu Hemat, Operasi Optimal, Sistem Hebat, English: Timesaving, Optimal Operation, Excellent System) "Whoosh" is the brand name for the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Rail. Currently, only one feeder line connecting the high-speed train station of Padalarang to the city center of Bandung, which uses the same rolling stock as ARS trains, is classified under this group. Feeder operated by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), and high-speed trains operated by PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC). Side notes: > Sri Lelawangsa is technically a local commuter train, but is classified as ARS because it is operated by PT Railink (KAI Bandara) and also uses a mix of both locomotives and the same rolling stock for the Kualanamu Line. > Since July 2019, the Kertalaya railbus, which connects the city of Palembang to Sriwijaya University, is not operated due to its only rolling stock being damaged and is currently suspended at Kertapati station. Unfortunately, reparations for the Kertalaya railbus is highly unlikely and won't be happening any time soon. > The commuter lines listed below use separate diesel rolling stock instead of locomotives: - Arjonegoro - Blorasura (mix of diesel & locomotive) - Jenggala - Prambanan Ekspres - Sindro - Supas (mix of diesel & locomotive) > The local lines listed below use separate diesel rolling stock instead of locomotives: - Andalan Celebes - Cut Meutia - Kedung Sepur - Lontara Thanks for checking out my map! Sorry for the mouthful of a description but it really is important :) Please check out my other Indonesian maps on my account, terimakasih!
