This rail network would solve a few issues. Currently, there is debate regarding the Kensington Expressway, which cuts through marginalized East Buffalo. The proposed solutions are to keep it as it is, move the traffic into a tunnel, or just destroy the highway altogether. All these solutions have severe consequences. My solution is to replace the highway with both a boulevard/parkway and then utilize the tunnel idea, but instead put a commuter rail in the tunnel as opposed to cars. This map also gives the West side their own rail, the south side their own rail, and creates an Elmwood line. East Buffalo would also get an additional line in areas not served by the new Kensington replacement line. As far as the main street line, it is clear that the people of Amherst simply do not want an expansion, so they can deal with the consequences of that. Additionally, the line is slow and outdated so my solution is to just update what is already there. Of course, there is also a high speed rail connecting Buffalo to Rochester. Ideally, this would run alongside the I-90, so that drivers can see the train speeding by them. This is really the best form of advertisement. Final note about the Kensington line is that there will be an express train that hits Williamsville, the airport, and downtown. This is to ensure that the people of Williamsville find practicality in the line and so that it actually saves them time in their commute. If this is not the case, they will fight tooth and nail to prevent the line from being constructed.
