GDR, 1987/88 (Realistic Recreation)

Im digitalizing the Railroad lines of the German Democratic Republic + West Berlin as they listed in the 1987/88 Timetable book. I might add busses and trams of some GDR Cities aswell at some point in the future. Here is a quick Overview of the difierent train classes and their meanings : - InterExpreß (IEx) — Literal Translation: Inter-Express These were premium, high-priority international express trains connecting East Germany with other Soviet bloc nations. - Städte-expreß (Ex) — Literal Translation: City Express These were first-class, high-priority express trains designed primarily to connect regional East German capitals with East Berlin. - Schnellzug (D) — Literal Translation: Fast Train These were traditional long-distance express trains that stopped only at major stations and cities. - Eilzug (E) — Literal Translation: Semi-Fast Train / Hurry Train These trains acted as a bridge between long-distance and local travel, skipping smaller halts but stopping more frequently than a Schnellzug. ----LOCAL SERVICES----- - Personenzug (P) — Literal Translation: Passenger TrainThese were standard local or regional trains that stopped at every station along their route. - Stadtverkehr (S) — Literal Translation: City Traffic / City Transport This refers to localized urban rapid transit or suburban commuter train networks (commonly known as the S-Bahn). Untergrundbahn (U) — Literal Translation: Underground Railway This refers to the conventional metro or subterranean subway network operating inside major municipal areas.
