#10: Louisville Metro Rail + Streetcar

Here's my vision for a transit system for Louisville, KY! This was a challenging but fun map to make. All streetcar routes follow current roadways, and all River City Rail (regional rail) routes follow current railways. Louisville has a very interesting railway layout- there currently is no Amtrak service here, and no rails pass directly through the downtown area. So, I made it so that the University of Louisville area serves as the "hub" for the RCR system. Unlike my previous maps, these lines are named for their directions instead of their terminus cities. Center City Streetcars (CCS): Downtown Line: This line runs on Market St. (eastbound) and Main St. (westbound) and connects to the Crosstown Line at 2nd St. (northbound) and 3rd St. (southbound). This line mostly serves Louisville's downtown area. It connects to the Northern, Southeast, and Southwest Lines at Market West station. It connects to the Eastern Line at Eastern Crossing station. Headways are 12 minutes. Crosstown Line: This line runs on 2nd St. (northbound) and 3rd St. (southbound). This line mostly serves Louisville's downtown area, while also extending south to the University of Louisville. It connects to the Northwest, Northern, Southern, and Southeast Lines at University Central station. Headways are 12 minutes. River City Rail (RCR): Northwest Line: This line is the shortest in the RCR system. It connects the University of Louisville to New Albany, IN, across the Ohio River, while passing through some neighborhoods as well. Headways are 15 minutes. Northern Line: This line connects the airport to Sellersburg, IN. It crosses the Ohio River on the historic 14th Street Bridge. Headways are 15 minutes. Eastern Line: This line is the longest in the RCR system. It connects the airport to La Grange while passing through some eastern neighborhoods. Headways are 15 minutes. Southeast Line: This line connects downtown Louisville to Jeffersontown in southeast Louisville. Headways are 15 minutes. Southern Line: This line connects the University of Louisville to the airport and some southern neighborhoods. Headways are 15 minutes. Southwest Line: This line connects downtown Louisville to neighborhoods in southwest Louisville. Headways are 15 minutes.
