Metrolink LAX Line

My idea for an LA Union to LAX airport line. The right of way runs elevated with double tracking and triple tracking above the former Harbor Subdivision on Slauson above the Rail-to-Rail connection before ducking underground on Crenshaw Blvd via cut-and-cover and then tunneling to serve SoFi Stadium before swinging west towards LAX. This ROW also permits extending CAHSR to LAX to better serve communities in southern LA. Metrolink would serve the line using level boarding EMUs as a trial run for eventually electrifying the whole network. I envision the SoFi stop to be the centerpiece of a push to redevelop the parking lots around SoFi into a transit-oriented community with housing, retail, business, and hospitality. To facilitate SoFi's cooperation, Metro would offer the following proposal: Metro would purchase the parking lots across from the lake between Marquee Dr and Yukon Ave for the station and be granted the right to conduct cut-and-cover construction under the Red Zone parking lot as they see fit. Metro would then build a massive underground parking garage around the excavated station before covering it all up and building mixed use developments above the lot. Metro would lease back the excess garage capacity to SoFi for event parking. This arrangement would enable SoFi to not only continue to earn parking revenue, but also free up their remaining parking lots for redevelopment as well.
