Inspired by this: http://www.realtransit.org/nec12.php And this: https://devincwilkins.github.io/nec-webtool/#10/41.1399/-73.5686 These new sections of track will allow Amtrak to phenomenally reduce travel times for the Acela, and will also allow operators to launch additional services on the existing Northeast Corridor. Please note this map shows major realignments of the existing Northeast Corridor and new dedicated sections of track. Infill stations, additional tracks and speed increases on existing right of way, catenary replacement, etc. are not shown. Maximum speed between major stations Washington-Baltimore: 160 mph(260 km/h) Baltimore-Wilmington: 200 mph(320 km/h) Wilmington-Philadelphia: 140 mph(225 km/h) Philadelphia-Trenton: 160 mph(260 km/h) Trenton-Newark: 200 mph(320 km/h) Newark-New York: 90 mph(145 km/h) New York-New Haven: 90-110 mph(145-180 km/h) New Haven-Providence: 220 mph(350 km/h) Providence-Boston: 160 mph(260 km/h) Sections marked with an asterisk(*) indicate this section is reserved for Acela services and certain Northeast Regional. In addition, the Downtown Baltimore Tunnel would be built once it is determined Baltimore Penn Station cannot accommodate additional Amtrak and MARC services.
