With the recent LAX station opening I decided to have some fun messing around with the LA Metro. It's nice to see a system that has so many plans for the future. A lot of this is stuff that's official, but a lot is my own messing about.
My shitposting knows no end.
Some notes:
- The A Line Ontario Airport Station would be connected via a pedestrian walkway bridge to the terminal. This walkway would go over lot 5.
- The A Line in general is just so massive omg
- I chose the Hybrid K Line alignment because why not
- I see your chonk A Line and raise you chonk C Line. This was done just because of Disneyland. It's probably not even super practical but having a direct ride from Airport -> Disney is a good idea.
- G Line LRT conversion, yay more capacity
- I know that Metro has a superstition about not using the letter F for its lines (they want to avoid the 'Failure Line') but idc, the alphabet gap annoys me
- Not entirely sure about the logistics of the section out to Burbank Airport but I'm sure someone can make it work. Perhaps having the S elevated and the B bored? Or tunnel the S at some point.
- I don't have the determination to get the perfect alignment through the Sepulveda Pass but you get the idea. In fact most of the S Line's alignment is very much "you get the rough idea". I have looked over the DEIR and established that the entire alignment that I have is basically moderately off so yay.
- The H Line was created to avoid making people transfer a bunch to get between the west and north, the only real problem of it is that it would require an additional bore on the short shared section with the D Line
- The I Line is just to connect the outermost legs of the network because why not. We're just having fun.
- The SE Gateway got L because that's just how the alphabet works. That map Metro gives is a little weird so yay.
- Vermont is wide enough that the M Line could either be elevated or cut and cover, except for when it needs to be tunneled when Vermont gets too small or near the B/D.
- With the new division 20 tunnel and stuff having the B/D continue past Union makes sense.
- If Sepulveda ends up with automated trains then the B Line would need its own tracks/tunnels in the shared sections.
- The C line section along Lincoln should be tunnelled or elevated for as much as possible. Yay grade separation.
