In this fantasy world, the Atlanta metro gets an expansion and commuter/regional rail gets added!
Commuter/regional rail lines are based off of concepts from atltrains.com with some modifications, such as through-running routes (routes that stretch from one suburb to another on the opposite side of Atlanta via the downtown stretch) and some station location changes. All rail lines would be diesel except for the Fayetteville to Cumming line, which would be electric and through-run along the Red Line in the Atlanta area (making limited stops). All rail lines would use existing lines or parallel existing lines, with the exception of the Fayetteville to Cumming line (the northern part running elevated over GA 400) and the eastern portion of the Rome to Monroe line (east of Stone Mountain - most of that stretch would be elevated over US 78).
I would also add super-regional rail lines that run between farther-afield points through Atlanta. They would make limited stops when running along a regional rail line.
