MTA's Proposed IBX (w/ Personal Alternatives)

for context: IBX is a proposed routing to connect Brooklyn/Queens by rail. The present proposal is between Jackson Heights and Sunset Park using light rail. Personal alternatives explained for reference: Cost Effective IBX is pretty much the current proposal, albeit a few changes: -Service would be on a seperate ROW for its entirety (tunnel in Middle Village would be expanded to accomadate) but could run at street level along Roosevelt if need be (Roosevelt would be converted to a bus/tramway between 75 St and the BQE for this). Alternatively, service could end in Woodside by the LIRR station (Woodside Av bus/tramway between 64 St and 72 St for this), but risk no connection to the E/F/M/R If budget is a true issue, a stripped down version could operate between Rockaway Parkway (L) and Jackson Heights as the K train, only forcing the section of the ROW between Wilson Av on the L and Jackson Heights to be reconstructed. Under this plan, Middle Village & Ridgewood would have new subway service. Trains would terminate at a station along Roosevelt Av (for access to the 7) or usethe abandoned platform at Jackson Heights - Roosevelt Av, allowing a direct connection to services to Manhattan. An alternative would have the K run along present LIRR tracks to LIC. If budget wasn't an issue, a ROW would be constructed between Richmond Av and E 180 St in The Bronx, allowing for even more connectivity within the city. The portion between College Of SI and Wilson Av would be exclusively light rail, while the portion between Wilson Av and Dimtars Blvd would be a mix between light and heavy rail, and the section north of Jackson Heights to E 180th would be exclusively heavy rail, run by the K. Since traveling the overall ROW would take around 2 1/2 hours end to end, splitting it allows for consistent service in the core section that needs the service (Brownsville - Astoria) while allowing for an expansion in service within areas previously not served by rail.
