With SAS Costs already being insanely high (iirc Phase 2 will outdo Phase 1 in terms of cost) I thought the money could be better spent in other parts Main proposal to replace the rest of SAS would be a rebranded M15 SBS (now known as the T line, a la Boston's Silver Line) from 96 St to South Ferry, with half (if not the entirety) of 2 Av south of 96 St being used for a exclusive BRT (remaining lanes would be for trucks, emergency services & bikes only). 1 Av would become a 2 way south of 86 St & only receive M15 local service (albeit a lot more beefed up) Q would be the sole SAS service. Main proposals here are an expansion of current Q service north of 96 St, w 3 main options: -option 1 would send the Q crosstown west to Broadway & 135 St (w an option to send service further north to 168 St if demand arises). In a world where cost wasn't an issue, the western option could be sent towards Hackensack, NJ. -option 2 would send the Q north to 3 Av-149 St to allow a direct connection to The Bronx. It also would provide provisionals for two options: Webster Av elevated to Gun Hill Road (2/5), or a Metro-North replacement between Melrose and Mt Vernon, utilizing the outer two tracks along the MNR ROW. -option 3 would send the Q east, with a cheaper option going from 3 Av/149 along Westchester Av to Hunts Point, at which point it would run elevated to Throgs Neck. A more expensive (but beneficial option) would send the Q below the Amtrak ROW until Hunts Point, then stay underground until it approached the Throgs Neck Expressway, at which point it would run elevated to Co-Op City along the center of the Bruckner Expressway and New England Thruway.
