Map of North American High-Speed Rail Routes using a slightly modified version of CityNerd's RPI formulas in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wE5G1kTndI4 High-Speed Rail Routes (HSR) are at an RPI ≥1.00, with the notable exception of New Orleans, which only hits an RPI of .95, but I figured that connecting New Orleans would make sense given it's geographic importance, and all other branches on that route are over 1.00 Connecting Rail Routes (CR) are routes that are at an RPI <1.00 but still ≥0.10, meant to grab mid-size cities than lack the demand for High Speed Rail. These lines use a modified time formula and distance factor, and are assumed to run at approximately 75 mph You can see the data for this map at this link: https://tinyurl.com/y6r7shpk Population Data is using the Metropolitan Statistical Area for Primary Cities, with Secondary Cities either being Smaller cities in Larger MSAs, or cities too small to be their own MSA. The only exception is El Paso-Ciudad Juarez, where I had to combine the two, as a route between El Paso and Ciudad Juarez on the Navajo-Comanche HSR would have an RPI <1.00 Section Lengths were calculated using the Measurement Line in the Tools Group, rounding each section to the nearest 5 Network Effects were not calculated due to the sheer enormity of the Data, but the Network Formula I would use if I decide to calculate them would be adding 45 minutes to the existing travel time, per connection. This approximates train transfer times, though you could certainly sub out a smaller number if you feel that it can run more frequently. Currently, High-Speed Rail in the US and Canada is effectively complete, though I'm still on the lookout for new routes that are viable to create. Connecting Rail Routes are still very much a WIP in this area. I am planning on adding routes to Mexico and Central America, and I may eventually expand the map into South America. I'm open to suggestions if anyone has any!
