Welcome to London Underground Expanded Concept 4. This is the same of what would be the final product and version of the London Concept Map series, London Transport Expanded Concept Map 4. This is the most dense London Underground network out of all concept maps and this might be my best one yet. Down below are all the lines and what purpose they serve in this fictional world: Bakerloo: The Bakerloo line is named after the two terminus's: Baker Street & Waterloo. The line opened in 1906 and currently runs between Harrow & Wealdstone and Elephant & Castle which is 14 miles long in total (23 kilometres). A fun fact is that it is the only line where trains pass through one of it's depots west of Queen's Park station. Extensions of this line include the Bakerloo line extension to Lewisham and then continuing along the Mid-Kent line to Beckenham Junction, a branch to Addiscombe continuing underground to East Croydon and a further extension from Hayes to Hazelwood near Orpington. This would provide a fast connection from Lewisham to Central London whilst also talking over existing railway lines. A northern extension would also happen following the Overground Lioness line to Watford Junction to provide higher frequency trains along the Watford DC line. Beck: The Beck line is named after Harry Beck, the inventor of the modern tube map which was first created in 1933 which began to influence other cities metros around the world on how a metro map was made. In fact, one of his maps are in display at Finchley Central station today. The line opened in 1907 as the Charing Cross, Euston & Hampstead Railway where the High Barnet branch only went as far as Highgate (This station is now named as Archway) and it currently runs as the High Barnet and Charing Cross branches of the Northern line which is 36 miles long in total (58 kilometers). A fun fact about this line is that some stations are older than the line itself, especially the stations between East Finchley and Totteridge & Whetstone. Extensions include a new tunnel from High Barnet to Potters Bar bringing alternate links and in tandem with new developments alongiside a new extension west to Hampton Court from Battersea Power Station giving places e.g. Kingston, Clapham Junction, Roehampton and Wandsworth a tube station relieving congestion on existing commuter rail lines. Central: The Central line is named after the Central London Railway (Nothing special). The line opened in 1900 and currently has branches to Epping, the Hainault loop, West Ruislip and Ealing Broadway which is 46 miles long in total (74 kilometers). A fun fact is that the name Central is misleading because there are way more lines in Central London and ever since the 1920s, the line has been extended outside of Zone 1 and even outside of Greater London and the line was never renamed. Extensions of this line include the revival of the line to Ongar, a second underground line connection to Heathrow Airport with an extension to Slough via Windsor and the unbuilt extension to Denham. It would provide an underground station at Windsor to replace National Rail services serving there with another intention to reduce overcrowding on the Piccadilly line and Elizabeth Line into Central London. Ongar would become a new town alongside North Weald in a similar manner to a 1940s proposal to make Ongar a new town. Chelney: The Chelney line is a brand new tube line named after two places it serve: Chelsea & Hackney. The line would have opened around the late 1990s which would be about 49 miles long in total (79 kilometres). A fun fact is that it serves the northernmost part of the underground network at Harlow Town which is an extension from Epping including two branches to Epsom Downs & Kingston. It would've given Chelsea a tube station for the first time and an underground link to Sutton which has been proposed in the past for the Northern or District lines but never happened. A unique section is that from Loughton to Epping, it goes express not stopping at Debden or Theydon Bois. Circle: The Circle line is named after what was once formerly the clockwise and anti-clockwise services by the District & Metropolitan lines. The line was created in 1949 as a separate line however in 2009, the name 'Circle' became misleading because it was extended along the Hammersmith & City line to Hammersmith thus no longer being a circle. Today, it runs from Hammersmith to Edgware Road and then looping around central London back to Edgware Road which is 17 miles long in total (27 kilometres). The only extension on this line is an extension to East Putney from Hammersmith where it would follow the Hammersmith & City line as far as Fulham Palace and then branch off towards East Putney on a new tunnel. The intention is to create a faster link between Putney & Hammersmith without changing at Earl's Court. District: The District line is basically named after the Metropolitan District Railway which opened in 1868 between South Kensington and Westminster and currently has branches to Richmond, Ealing Broadway, Kensington (Olympia), Wimbledon and Upminster with the centre being Earl's Court which is 40 miles long in total (64 kilometers). Two fun facts of this line are that it is the only line to use a bridge to cross the River Thames and has 60 stations which is the highest for any Tube line. Extensions of this line are mainly part of it's branches however, The Ealing Broadway branch is handed over to the Piccadilly line in exchange for an extension to Hillingdon following the Heathrow branch of the Piccadilly line to Boston Manor and then going underground via Southall and Yeading before going back up to the surface at West Northolt. Others include an extension to Kingston via the Kingston Loop line from Richmond and an extension from Wimbledon along the Chessington branch line to Chessington World Adventures to serve the theme park of the same name. It's purpose is to takeover some of the National Rail lines to TfL as a plan for a full control of all of London's commuter rail lines. Eustonwharf: Finsbury: Fleet: Hammersmith & City: Heathfield: Islington: Jubilee: Lea Valley: Lovelace: Metropolitan: Montgomery: Piccadilly: Saffron: Southern: Tuppenie: Tyburn: Victoria: Wankerloo: The deep-level tube lines would all have the new 2024 Tube Stock as they are newer futuristic trains with walk-through carriages and newer passenger information displays which the sub-surface lines using the S7/S8 Tube Stock with a few more units ordered due to the extensions. You might notice that the other modes e.g. Overground, Tramlink, Crossrail, Light Rails, Superloop, High Speed Rail, have all disappeared and if you try to find them on this map, then you are at the wrong one unfortunately.
