MD is currently facing financial issues due to high operating costs and inadequate donations. Here are 3 suggestions that may help: 1. 𝗟𝗜𝗠𝗜𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗛 𝗙𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡. [𝗪𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲] A significant amount of the database is hoarded by freshly-branched maps with minimal or no edits at all, wasting server traffic and storage. By making all-maps no-branch by default except for ones tagged "Template Map" which users intend on allowing branching, this can reduce wasted server traffic and storage. Moreover, some of the explicit titles and map-stealing shenanigans can be avoided this way. 2. 𝗔𝗗𝗗 𝗪𝗜𝗞𝗜𝗣𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗔-𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗘 𝗣𝗢𝗣𝗨𝗣 𝗥𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗦 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗗𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦/𝗦𝗨𝗕𝗦𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗣𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆. [𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲] I'm not an actual webdev but currently "saving" maps seem to involve the entirety of the map data resulting in lengthy load times and heavy traffic. Would it be possible to change this to a selectively-updated structure to cut traffic? What we as a community can do: 1. Stop branching scoremaxxing maps (if possible stop scoremaxxing entirely or at least scoremax with less stations) 2. Save maps less often (e.g. double-checking them before posting to avoid double-saves) 3.
